THE MARK FOSTER GAGE FOUNDATION is a private charitable organization that funds efforts to improve the built environment through supporting innovative architectural research, education, publications, and projects.
To these ends, our grantmaking is framed by two potentially contrasting convictions: that architectural history is an extraordinary resource, and that a fundamental rethinking of the nature of architecture is necessary to respond effectively to the new challenges of the 21st century. Through these lenses, we aim to empower innovative architects, designers, theorists, and teachers to develop and disseminate ideas that not only respond to the evolving functional needs of society, but also spark new possibilities, redefine aesthetics, and challenge the conventional norms of our built environment. Our foundation is dedicated to shaping a future where architectural innovation leads the way toward a more civil, humane, and beautiful built world.
Since 2022 Mark Foster Gage and the foundation have given over $50,000 in funds to support endeavors that hold the most promise of having a positive impact on the discipline and practice of architecture and therefore the design of our world. Recent recipients of funds include Building Trust International, Article 25, Anyone Corporation, Shelter Global and Architecture Sans Frontiers.
The foundation is a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
